iOS 26 Introduces AirPods Pro Hearing Protection Setting
iOS 26 introduces a crucial Hearing Protection setting for AirPods Pro 2 and 3, limiting volume to safeguard hearing in select countries.

Introduction
Apple is at the forefront again with the iOS 26 update, introducing a groundbreaking feature for AirPods Pro users. This update, particularly beneficial for users in select European and Middle Eastern countries, introduces the Hearing Protection setting. It's designed to protect users' hearing by limiting sound exposure in noisy environments, a critical addition in our increasingly loud world.
What Is the New Hearing Protection Setting?
iOS 26 brings the 'EN 352 Protection' setting to AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3 users in countries like Belgium, Czechia, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Türkiye, and the UAE. This setting aligns with the European EN 352 hearing protection standard.
It caps the maximum volume of media playback at 82 dBA, a key step in preventing hearing damage from long-term exposure to high volumes.
How Do You Activate the New Setting?
Activating the 'EN 352 Protection' setting is easy:
- Connect your AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods Pro 3 to your iPhone.
- Go to the Settings app.
- Tap on your AirPods.
- Choose 'Hearing Protection.'
- Use the toggle to activate or deactivate the 'EN 352 Protection.'
This process ensures users can quickly adapt their listening preferences to their surroundings.
